• MORE NIGHTTIME LANE CLOSURES ON US 202 IN CHESCO |
|
|
King of Prussia, PA - Nighttime lane restrictions will be in place and brief stoppages may occur next week (March 29 to April 2) on Route 202 in Chester County for continuing construction activities at two bridges over the expressway in East Whiteland Township, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today.
Route 202 will be reduced to a single lane in each direction Monday through Thursday, from 10 p.m. each evening until 5 a.m. the following morning, between the Route 29 (Morehall Road) and Swedesford Road overpasses. Periodic full stoppages in either or both directions for up to 15 minutes also may occur any night after midnight.
The closures will allow crews to complete the installation of protective shielding on the underside of the recently set deck beams at the Route 29 overpass. Immediately south of Route 29, workers will use the lane closures to remove the protective shielding from the underside of the Swedesford Road span, where the new concrete deck was poured in mid-March.
The planned activities are not expected to impact travel on Route 29 (Morehall Road).
Also next week, flagger-controlled lane restrictions may occur on Swedesford Road at the bridge over Route 202 Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Workers at that location are building the approach pavement for the new bridge.
All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The two overpasses, along with five others that have been rebuilt or modified, are being replaced with wider structures to make room for a future improvement of the expressway between North Valley Road in Tredyffrin Township and the Route 30 Bypass Interchange in East Whiteland Township.
