• NIGHT LANE CLOSURES SCHEDULED ON US 202 AT PA 29 |
|
|
King of Prussia – Route 202 in Chester County will be reduced to a single lane in each direction during the nighttime and overnight hours next week (July 19-23) as crews complete painting and removing construction barriers at two overpasses at the Route 29 Interchange in East Whiteland Township, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today.
The nighttime work on Route 202, along with line painting scheduled on the new Route 29 (Morehall Road) bridge from 7 p.m. Sunday (July 18) to 5 a.m. Monday (July 19), mark the completion of work on the new bridges carrying Route 29 and Swedesford Road over Route 202.
Route 202 will be reduced to one lane northbound and one lane southbound Monday through Thursday (July 19-22) from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning at the Route 29 Interchange. Brief traffic stoppages in each direction also may occur after midnight to allow crews to reposition equipment.
Flagger-controlled lane closures also may occur during the week on Swedesford Road at the Route 29 Interchange from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Crews at that location are finishing clean-up and other minor work items at the new bridge over Route 202.
All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The two bridges over Route 202, along with five others that have been rebuilt or modified, were replaced with wider structures under the first two phases of PennDOT’s four-phase project to widen and rebuild Route 202 between North Valley Road in Tredyffrin Township and the Route 30 Bypass Interchange in East Whiteland Township.
Under Phase 2, new bridges were built over Route 202 at Route 29, Swedesford Road and Cedar Hollow Road and the abandoned railroad bridge north of Cedar Hollow Road was raised, all under a $23.3 million contract that began in early 2008.
Phase 1 construction replaced Route 202 bridges at Mill Road, Church Road and Swedesford Road near Route 401 beginning in early 2007. Two intersections and a section of Route 401 in East Whiteland Township also were widened and improved under the $17.8 million Phase 1 contract, which was completed in late 2008.
The Phase 3 reconstruction and widening of 4.2 miles of Route 202 from North Valley Road in Tredyffrin Township to just north of the Route 401 Interchange is scheduled to start in early 2011.
Phase 4 will complete the rebuilding of Route 202 from just north of Route 401 to the Route 30 Interchange in East Whiteland Township. This phase is currently in final design and expected to go to bid for construction in late 2012.
PennDOT reminds motorists they can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on Route 202 and other major highways before heading out. |
