• NIGHTTIME LANE CLOSURE ON US 202 SB IN TREDYFFRIN |
|
|
King of Prussia – Southbound Route 202 will be reduced from two lanes to one between the Chesterbrook and Route 401 interchanges in Tredyffrin and East Whiteland townships, Chester County on Monday through Thursday (July 11-14) from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for shoulder reconstruction and barrier placement, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today.
Route 202’s southbound right lane will be closed while crews rebuild the outside shoulder and set concrete barriers on the highway. The contractor’s schedule is weather dependent. In the event that inclement weather postpones construction one night, the contractor will work Saturday, July 16 from 12:01 a.m. to 10 a.m.
PennDOT’s contractor began shifting Route 202’s southbound travel lanes over to the rebuilt shoulder this week in areas where the shoulder work has been completed within the construction zone.
Southbound Route 202 drivers should allow additional time for travel during construction because slowdowns will occur. The posted speed limit in the Route 202 construction zone is 45 miles per hour.
This work is associated with PennDOT’s $105.4 million project to add a third travel lane in each direction along four miles of Route 202 from just south of the Route 252 Interchange in Tredyffrin Township to just north of the Route 401 Interchange in East Whiteland Township. Richard E. Pierson Construction Company, Inc. of Woodstown, N.J. is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.
PennDOT is rebuilding and expanding 6.5 miles of Route 202 from just south of the Route 252 Interchange to the Route 30/Exton Bypass Interchange under two construction contracts. The second contract, which runs from just north of the Route 401 Interchange to the Route 30/Exton Bypass Interchange, is in final engineering design. Construction is scheduled to start in early 2013 and finish in late 2015.
