• NIGHTTIME LANE CLOSURES ON US 202 SB IN TREDYFFRIN |
|
|
King of Prussia – Southbound Route 202 will be reduced from two lanes to one between the Chesterbrook and Route 401 interchanges in Tredyffrin and East Whiteland townships, Chester County on Sunday through Thursday (June 12-16) from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for road construction, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today.
Crews will work at night next week to set construction barriers in place on southbound Route 202 and begin rebuilding the southbound outside shoulder for use as a travel lane in later stages of construction. The contractor also will install drainage pipes under the highway.
The contractor’s schedule is weather dependent. If any of the scheduled weeknight operations are postponed due to inclement weather, a southbound lane closure will be in place from 8 p.m. Friday, June 17 to 10 a.m. Saturday, June 18.
PennDOT advises motorists that the posted speed limit in the Route 202 construction area is 45 miles per hour. Southbound drivers should allow additional time for travel through the work zone because slowdowns will occur.
This work is part of PennDOT’s $105.4 million project to add a third travel lane in each direction along four miles of Route 202 from just south of the Route 252 Interchange in Tredyffrin Township to just north of the Route 401 Interchange in East Whiteland Township. Richard E. Pierson Construction Company, Inc. of Woodstown, N.J. is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.
PennDOT is rebuilding and expanding 6.5 miles of Route 202 from just south of the Route 252 Interchange to the Route 30/Exton Bypass Interchange under two construction contracts. The second contract, which runs from just north of the Route 401 Interchange to the Route 30/Exton Bypass Interchange, is in final engineering design. Roadwork is scheduled to start in early 2013 and finish in late 2015.
PennDOT reminds motorists they can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on Route 202 and other major highways before heading out. |
