• NIGHTTIME LANE CLOSURES ON 202 IN CHESTER COUNTY |
|
|
KING OF PRUSSIA, PA – Nighttime lane restrictions will be in place next week (April 20-24) on Route 202 at three locations in East Whiteland and Tredyffrin townships, Chester County, for construction activities at three bridges over the expressway, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said today.
Route 202 will be reduced to a single lane in each direction Wednesday through Friday (April 22-24) from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning for setting beams at the Swedesford Road north overpass, located at the Route 29 Interchange in East Whiteland Township. Full stoppages of up to 15 minutes in duration also will occur each evening when beams are lifted and set in place.
Flagger controlled lane closures also may occur on Swedesford Road at the bridge during the nighttime operation and on Monday through Friday (April 20-24) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for related construction activities.
Northbound and southbound lane closures also will be in place on Route 202 approximately one mile north of the Route 29 Interchange in Tredyffrin Township as work gets underway to raise the abandoned railroad bridge that crosses the expressway just north of the new Cedar Hill Road overpass. The bridge is being raised to provide increased clearance for commercial vehicles using Route 202. It will become part of Tredyffrin Township’s pedestrian trail system.
Alternating northbound and southbound lane closures also will occur on Route 202 on Monday through Friday (April 20-24) from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for bridge painting at the Swedesford Road (south) overpass located between the Route 30 and Route 401 interchanges in East Whiteland Township.
Corresponding flagger controlled lane restrictions also may occur each night on Swedesford Road between Planebrook Road/Phoenixville Pike and Church Road in East Whiteland Township during the bridge painting activities.
All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The overpasses are among seven bridges over Route 202 that PennDOT is replacing or modifying to make room for a future improvement of the expressway between North Valley Road in Tredyffrin Township and the Route 30 Bypass Interchange in East Whiteland Township.
