King of Prussia, PA.
Motorists on US Route 202 in Chester County will encounter nighttime lane closures the week of Dec. 7-11 for continuing construction activities at the Swedesford Road overpass in East Whiteland Township, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today.
Route 202 will be reduced to a single lane in each direction Monday through Thursday from 10 p.m. each evening until 5 a.m. the following morning at the overpass, which is located at the southern end of the Route 29 Interchange.
The lane closures will allow crews to install protective sheeting to the underside of the recently-installed beams for the northern half of the new span.
Brief flagger-controlled stoppages related to the bridge construction also may occur between 7 p.m. each evening until 5 a.m. the following morning on Swedesford Road at the interchange.
All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The Swedesford Road bridge, along with the nearby Route 29 bridge over Route 202 and five other structures that have been rebuilt or modified, is being replaced with a wider structure to make room for a future improvement of the expressway between North Valley Road in Tredyffrin Township and the Route 30 Bypass Interchange in East Whiteland Township.
