• PAVEMENT REPLACEMENT TO RESTRICT TRAFFIC ON US 202
Tuesday, September 07, 2010

King of Prussia – Travel restrictions will be in effect next week on Route 202 between Paoli Pike and High Street in West Goshen Township, Chester County, as crews continue to replace deteriorated concrete pavement on the four-lane highway, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said today.

Weather permitting, the contractor’s schedule for this week is:

• Tuesday through Thursday (Sept. 7-9) from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., northbound Route 202 will be reduced from two lanes to one between High Street and Matlack Street for saw cutting concrete pavement;

• Tuesday through Thursday (Sept. 7-9) from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., northbound and southbound Route 202 will be reduced from two lanes to one between Paoli Pike and Westtown Road for shoulder reconstruction;

• From 9 p.m. Friday (Sept. 10) to 5 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 12), northbound Route 202 will be reduced to one lane from High Street to Matlack Street for concrete patching;

• From 8 p.m. Friday (Sept. 10) to 5 a.m. Monday (Sept. 13), the northbound Route 202 off-ramp to Route 3 (West Chester Pike) will be closed for concrete pavement replacement. A posted detour will take northbound Route 202 traffic north to the Paoli Pike exit, from where drivers will then get on Route 202 South and take Route 202 South to the Route 3 exit ramp.

PennDOT advises motorists to allow more time for travel along Route 202 during construction because backups will occur. This work schedule is weather dependent.

This work is part of PennDOT’s $19,377,081 project to rehabilitate and improve 4.3 miles of Route 202 between the Route 100 Interchange and High Street in Chester County. The project is funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Allan A. Myers, LP of Worcester, Montgomery County is the general contractor on the federally-funded project, which is scheduled to finish in Dec. 2011.

PennDOT reminds motorists they can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on major highways before heading out.
