King of Prussia – Weekend and weeknight closures are scheduled on Route 202 between Route 100 and Matlack Street in West Goshen Township, Chester County for paving and bridge construction, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today.
On Saturday (Oct. 15) from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., Route 202 will be reduced from two lanes to one in both directions between Route 3 (West Chester Pike) and Route 322 for work on the overhead Paoli Pike bridge.
On Monday through Friday (Oct. 17-21), northbound Route 202 will be reduced from two lanes to one from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. and southbound Route 202 will be down to one lane from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
PennDOT advised motorists to allow additional time for travel on Route 202 during construction or use an alternate route because backups will occur.
This work is part of PennDOT’s $19.3 million project to rehabilitate and resurface 4.3 miles of Route 202 between the Route 100 Interchange and High Street. Construction began in May 2010 and is scheduled to finish in May 2012.
Crews are replacing deteriorated concrete pavement and resurfacing the four-lane expressway; reconstructing roadway shoulders; patching and repairing eight bridges; painting steel beams on three bridges; removing and replacing five overhead sign structures; installing new highway signs; installing new guide rail and median barrier; and installing safety rumble strips and pavement reflectors.
Allan A. Myers, LP of Worcester, Montgomery County is the general contractor on the $19,377,081 project that is financed with 100 percent federal ARRA funds.
PennDOT reminds motorists they can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on Route 202 and other major highways before heading out.
