King of Prussia – Motorists will encounter daytime lane closures next week (March 7-11) at several locations in Montgomery and Bucks County for ongoing construction of the Route 202 Parkway, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said today.
Flaggers will direct an alternating single lane of traffic on Route 202 (DeKalb Pike) between Sumneytown Pike and Route 63 (Welsh Road), and on Route 63 (Welsh Road) between Stump and North Wales roads in Upper and Lower Gwynedd and Montgomery townships, Montgomery County on Monday through Friday (March 7-11) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Lane closures also may be in place in either direction on Route 202 (DeKalb Pike) from Route 63 (Welsh Road) to Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) in Montgomery Township on Monday through Friday (March 7-11) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Ongoing construction at these locations includes road widening, utility relocation and installation of highway drainage systems, all part of a $17.7 million project to build the southern connection with the Route 202 Parkway.
Parkway construction also will find crews working in several locations along the Route 202 Corridor in Bucks County. Flaggers will be in place Monday through Friday (March 7-11) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. directing a single lane of traffic through work areas at the following locations:
• Pickertown Road between Upper State and Stump roads in Warrington and New Britain townships for continuing installation of a water main;
• Route 152 (Limekiln Pike) between Stump Road and Route 202 (Butler Avenue) in Warrington and New Britain townships for widening, and
• Upper State Road between County Line and Pickertown roads in Warrington and New Britain townships for excavation at the intersection of County Line Road.
Daytime lane closures for utility work also may be in place on County Line Road at the intersection with Route 202 (Butler Avenue) in New Britain and Montgomery townships on Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This work is part of PennDOT’s $13.5 million project to widen County Line Road to four lanes with a center turn lane between Route 202 and Stump Road to increase capacity at the approaches to the Parkway.
Wells Road in Doylestown Township remains detoured for Parkway construction between Lower State and Turk roads, and Detweiler Road is closed permanently between Stump and Upper State roads in Warrington Township.
Drivers should anticipate delays at each of the work zones and are advised to add extra time for travel through these areas. All planned activities are contingent on the weather.
PennDOT is investing more than $200 million in state funds to build the nine-mile long Route 202 Parkway in Bucks and Montgomery counties and to improve roads approaching the Parkway’s entrances.
