• TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS ON US 202 IN WEST GOSHEN
Tuesday, May 31, 2011

King of Prussia – A series of lane and ramp closures are scheduled next week (May 31-June 5) on Route 202 between the Route 100 and Route 3 (West Chester Pike) interchanges in West Goshen Township, Chester County for concrete pavement replacement, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today.

Northbound and southbound Route 202 will be reduced to one lane between Route 3 (West Chester Pike) and Route 100 on Tuesday through Thursday (May 31-June 2). On these three nights, northbound traffic will restricted from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. and southbound Route 202 will be down to one lane from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Northbound Route 202 will then be restricted to one lane from 7 p.m. Friday, June 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 5 for the removal and replacement of damaged concrete. Route 202’s northbound right lane will be closed during this operation.

From 7 p.m. Friday, June 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 4, the northbound Route 202 off-ramp to Paoli Pike will be closed and detoured as will the Paoli Pike on-ramp to Route 202 North. Posted detours will take northbound Route 202 drivers to the Boot Road Interchange, where they will turn left on Boot Road and left to access the ramp to Route 202 South and the follow Route 202 South to the Paoli Pike exit. For Paoli Pike motorists heading to Route 202 North, they will be detoured south on Route 202 to the Route 3 (West Chester Pike) exit, where they will bear right onto Route 3 (West Chester Pike) and turn left at the ramp leading to Route 202 North.

Motorists are advised to allow more time for travel on this stretch of Route 202 during construction or use an alternate route because backups will occur.

This work is part of PennDOT’s $19.3 million project to rehabilitate and resurface 4.3 miles of Route 202 between the Route 100 Interchange and High Street. Construction began in May 2010 and is scheduled to finish in May 2012.

PennDOT’s contractor is replacing deteriorated concrete pavement and resurfacing the four-lane expressway; reinforcing roadway shoulders; patching and repairing eight bridges; painting steel beams on three bridges; removing and replacing five overhead sign structures; installing new highway signs; installing new guide rail and median barrier; and installing safety rumble strips and pavement reflectors.

Allan A. Myers, Inc. of Worcester, Montgomery County is the general contractor on the $19,377,081 project which is financed with 100 percent federal ARRA funds.
