• US 202 OVERNIGHT RESTRICTIONS IN CHESTER COUNTY |
|
|
KING OF PRUSSIA, PA – Motorists using Route 202 in Chester County will encounter nighttime lane restrictions next week (May 10-15) for continuing bridge construction at three locations in Tredyffrin and East Whiteland townships, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said today.
Route 202 will be reduced to a single lane in each direction Sunday through Thursday (May 10-14) from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning at the Route 29 overpass in East Whiteland Township, where crews will continue demolition of the center section of the overhead bridge. Intermittent traffic stoppages of up to 15 minutes also will occur during the overnight hours.
Alternating northbound and southbound lane restrictions and brief closures on Route 202 also will occur from 10 p.m. Monday (May 11) to 5 a.m. Tuesday, (May 12) for bridge painting at the structure carrying Swedesford Road over the expressway south of the Route 401 Interchange in East Whiteland Township.
In addition, Route 202 will be reduced to a single lane in each direction from 10 p.m. Thursday (May 14) to 5 a.m. Friday, (May 15) at the railroad bridge over Route 202 that is located approximately one mile north of the Route 29 Interchange in Tredyffrin Township. Full traffic stops of approximately 15 minutes also may occur on Route 202 at this location during this time. The railroad bridge is being raised to current standards that accommodate oversized vehicles using the expressway.
Flagger-controlled lane restrictions also may occur on Swedesford Road at two overpass locations – one at the Route 29 Interchange and one between Church Road and Planebrook Road/Phoenixville Pike in East Whiteland Township – Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The overpasses are among seven bridges over Route 202 being replaced or modified under two contracts totaling $40 million to make room for a future improvement of the expressway between North Valley Road in Tredyffrin Township and the Route 30 Bypass Interchange in East Whiteland Township.
