King of Prussia – Motorists traveling on Route 202 will encounter weeknight and weekend lane closures over the next week (July 9-18) when traveling between the Westtown Road and Paoli Pike interchanges in Westtown and West Goshen townships, Chester County for road construction, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today.

The contractor’s schedule is:

• From 10 p.m. Friday (July 9) to 5 a.m. Sunday (July 11), southbound and northbound Route 202 will be reduced to one lane from Paoli Pike to Westtown Road for patching deteriorated concrete;

• From 7 p.m. Sunday (July 11) to 5 a.m. Monday (July 12), motorists will encounter a narrower lane on the ramps at Route 202’s interchanges with Westtown Road and Route 3 (West Chester Pike) for milling;

• On Wednesday and Thursday (July 14-15) from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning, northbound and southbound Route 202 will be reduced to one lane between Westtown Road and Paoli Pike for saw cutting areas of deteriorated concrete pavement; and

• From 10 p.m. Friday, July 16 to 5 a.m. Sunday, July 18, southbound Route 202 will be reduced to one lane between Paoli Pike and Westtown Road for concrete patching.

PennDOT advises motorists to allow more time for travel along Route 202 during construction because backups will occur.
This work is part of PennDOT’s $19,377,081 project to rehabilitate and improve 4.3 miles of Route 202 between the Route 100 Interchange and High Street in Chester County. The project is funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Allan A. Myers, LP of Worcester, Montgomery County is the general contractor on the federally-funded project, which is scheduled to finish in Dec. 2011.
