• WELLS ROAD IN DOYLESTOWN TO CLOSE FOR 13 MONTHS
Tuesday, June 22, 2010

King of Prussia – Wells Road in Doylestown Township, Bucks County, will be closed to through traffic and detoured for approximately 13 months beginning Monday (June 28) for construction of the new Route 202 Parkway, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today.

The closure of Wells Road, which will extend between Lower State Road and Turk Road, will allow crews to build a bridge over the Parkway and reconstruct Wells Road approaching the new structure. Wells Road will remain open to local traffic between Lower State Road and Valley Circle, and from Turk Road to Radcliff Drive.

Non-truck traffic will be detoured along Lower State Road, New Britain Road, Sauerman Road and Turk Road. Due to a weight-restricted bridge on Turk Road near Sauerman Road, trucks will be detoured along Lower State Road, New Britain Road, Easton Road, Edison Furlong Road, Quarry Road and Turk Road.

The detour is scheduled to remain in place until August 2011.

The work on Wells Road is part of the $42.2 million contract to build the northern section of the Route 202 Parkway between Pickertown Road in Warrington Township and Route 611 in Doylestown Township.
