U.S. 202 SOUTH NIGHTTIME RESTRICTION FOR OVERHEAD SIGN CONSTRUCTION IN CHESTER COUNTY

King of Prussia, PA – Southbound U.S. 202 motorists will encounter a right lane closure between the Route 401 and U.S. 30/Exton Bypass interchanges in East Whiteland Township, Chester County, on Monday, December 11, and Tuesday, December 12, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, for overhead sign installation, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The work is part of a $26.4 million project to rehabilitate the northbound and southbound U.S. 202 bridges over Amtrak and the adjacent U.S. 30 ramp, and to remove and replace deteriorated concrete pavement on the U.S. 202 ramps to and from the U.S. 30/Exton Bypass.

The current work is the final phase of PennDOT’s almost $300 million U.S. 202 Section 300 improvement project that, since initial construction began in 2008, has widened and rebuilt 6.5 miles of the Chester County Expressway between the Swedesford Road/Route 252 Interchange in Tredyffrin Township, and the U.S. 30/Exton Bypass Interchange in East Whiteland Township.

Allan A. Myers, Inc. of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the project which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
