WOLF ADMINISTRATION ANNOUNCES START OF CONSTRUCTION TO WIDEN, IMPROVE TOWNSHIP LINE ROAD INTERSECTIO

King of Prussia, PA – The Wolf Administration announced today that construction will begin Monday, February 19, on a project to widen and improve two intersections on Township Line Road at Arch Road/Arch Street Road and North Wales Road in Whitpain, Plymouth, East Norriton and Worcester townships, Montgomery County. "This project is a critical component of a multi-phase program to reconstruct, widen and improve travel along a 9.1-mile section of U.S. 202 and selected intersections between Johnson Highway in Norristown and Route 309 in Montgomery Township,” Governor Tom Wolf said. “This is another example of a major infrastructure investment we are making to improve our transportation network and local economies.” Under this project, PennDOT will improve the intersection of Township Line Road and Arch Road/Arch Street Road by adding a right-turn lane on the eastbound approach of Township Line Road; adding a left-turn lane along the northbound approach of Arch Road; and adding a left-turn lane along the southbound approach of Arch Street Road. Improvements at the intersection of Township Line Road and North Wales Road will include the addition of left-turn lanes on both approaches. Additional improvements to both intersections include the installation of new signals and ADA compliant pedestrian facilities, pavement markings, signing and new drainage structures within the project limits. Beginning, Monday, February 19, Township Line Road will be reduced to a single lane of traffic between Sharon Lane and Oakwood Drive. The alternating lane closures will occur weekdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM through the end of construction scheduled for December. All traffic will be controlled by flagging. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent. Scott Building Corporation of Norristown, Montgomery County is the general contractor on the $4,478,705 project which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.
