U.S. 202 LANE, RAMP CLOSURES AT NIGHT NEXT WEEK FOR BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION IN CHESTER COUNTY
King of Prussia, PA – Northbound U.S. 202 will be reduced to a single lane and two ramps at the U.S. 202 and U.S. 30/Exton Bypass Interchange will be closed at night next week in East and West Whiteland townships, Chester County, for overhead bridge construction, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
The work schedule is: • Monday, March 5, through Friday, March 9, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, and until 10:00 AM Saturday, March 10, northbound U.S. 202 will be reduced from two-lanes-to-one between the Boot Road and Route 401 interchanges; • Tuesday, March 6, through Friday, March 9, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, and until 10:00 AM Saturday, March 10, the ramp from northbound U.S. 202 to Business U.S. 30 will be closed. Motorists normally using the ramp will be directed to use northbound U.S. 202 to the Route 401 Interchange, then turn right on Route 401 (Conestoga Road) to reach Business U.S. 30; and • Tuesday, March 6, through Friday, March 9, from 8:00 PM to 10:00 AM the following morning, and until 10:00 AM Saturday, March 10, the ramp from eastbound U.S. 30/Exton Bypass to northbound U.S. 202 will be closed. Motorists will be directed to use the Business U.S. 30 exit, turn right on eastbound Business U.S. 30, and right onto the ramp to northbound U.S. 202. The restrictions will allow the contractor to complete the installation of shielding from the underside of the northbound U.S. 202 bridge over the ramp and adjacent Amtrak rail lines, and continue demolition of outer half the bridge’s concrete deck and parapets. Eastbound U.S. 30/Exton Bypass and northbound U.S. 202 motorists should expect delays and slow moving traffic when approaching the work area. All scheduled activities are weather dependent. PennDOT completed repairs and redecking of the inside half of the northbound bridge in early February under the first major stage of a $26.4 million project to rehabilitate the northbound and southbound U.S. 202 bridges over Amtrak and the ramp, and replace the concrete pavement on the ramps to and from U.S. 202 and U.S. 30/Exton Bypass. Allan A Myers, Inc. of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds. For more information, visit www.us202-300.com.
