King of Prussia, PA – Periodic travel restriction will be in place in both directions on U.S. 202, and on the ramp from U.S. 30/Exton Bypass to northbound U.S. 202, during the day and at night next week as crews complete final construction activities on the $26.4 million project to rehabilitate several bridges and ramps in East Whiteland and West Whiteland townships, Chester County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
Weather permitting, the work schedule is:
Monday, October 14, through Friday, October 18, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, and until 10:00 AM Saturday, October 12, U.S. 202 will be reduced to one lane northbound or one lane southbound periodically between the Boot Road and Route 401 interchanges for line striping and installation of rumble strips along the shoulders;
Monday, October 14, through Friday, October 18, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, periodic lane closures will be in place in either direction for slow-moving line striping operations between the Boot Road and U.S. 30/Exton Bypass Interchange; and
Monday, October 14, and Tuesday, October 15, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, the ramp from the eastbound U.S. 30/Exton Bypass to northbound U.S. 202 will be closed periodically for line striping operations. Motorists heading for northbound U.S. 202 will exit at Business U.S. 30, turn right onto Business U.S. 30 and right onto the ramp to northbound U.S. 202.
Under the current project, Section 300/3RR, PennDOT rehabilitated the northbound and southbound U.S. 202 bridges over Amtrak and the U.S. 30/Exton Bypass ramp, plus the Morstein Road overpass, and replaced the concrete pavement on the ramps to and from U.S. 202 and U.S. 30/Exton Bypass.
Section 3RR construction, which began in 2017, is the final in a series of Section 300 projects that widened, rebuilt and improved the Chester County expressway between the Swedesford Road ramps in Tredyffrin Township and the U.S. 30/Exton Bypass in East and West Whiteland townships under contracts totaling more than $275 million.
Section 300 work began in early 2007 with a contract to replace several bridges over the expressway in advance of mainline widening. Mainline work then began in 2011 at the northern end of the corridor and progressed south under several additional mainline and bridge replacement contracts.
